We wanted to find a place to spend a few days together. Someplace beautiful with plenty to do and space to spread out, but not so crowded or so much going on that we would end up losing each other. North of San Francisco on the Russian River we found a town called Monte Rio.
About five minutes upriver is the town of Guerneville with markets, stores, and restaurants ranging from the super foody to the taco truck. Pictures below are from the nearby Armstrong Redwoods State Park and Austin Creek State Recreation Area.
About fifteen minutes down-river, you pass through a valley of rolling hills and farmland, then hit the ocean and the town of Jenner. The Sonoma Coast Redwoods State Park contains the estuary at the base of the river, and a wide stretch of coastline and beaches, one of which is pictured below.
These pictures only represent a few of the jems we saw. There are are more towns to explore, beautiful winding roads, wineries, farms, restaurants, and even a zip-line coarse within short driving distance from where we'll be staying.

Kate and Ariel will be arriving early in the week, and hope that many of you will be able to come early as well so that you will have a chance to relax, explore, or even join us on some pre-wedding adventures. Although simply being together and getting married are definitely the main events, we've included a few links to websites and local activities you might enjoy.
